It almost didn’t come out actually, we had to suspend production several times, due to personal family things happening. Silfra, the first collaboration between Hilary Hahn and Hauschka, will be released in May 2012 by Deutsche Grammophon.
Silfra is the culmination of a two-year exploratory improvisation project by Grammy Award-winning American violinist Hilary Hahn and prepared-piano master and innovator Volker Bertelmann (Hauschka). The music on this ambitious and free-spirited collection is a tribute to the Silfra rift in Iceland, an otherworldly landscape that inspired the two musicians to create a body of work that is evocative, hypnotic and truly breathtaking.

Throughout May and June 2012, Hilary Hahn and Hauschka will hit the road together, on a tour of live improvisation duo concerts in America, Europe and Asia, in connection with the release of Silfra.
